Dr. Denise Maratos is a pre-licensed psychologist in Beverly Hills, CA, where she conducts individual, couples, and family therapy sessions.

She has a special interest in transpersonal and depth psychology, including spiritual & transpersonal emergence, expressive arts therapies, ecotherapy, sexuality, LGBTQIA concerns, and transitional age youth (TAY).

She enjoys working with clients of all ages on life transitions, personal growth, healing, and transformation.

She is also a consultant for individuals and families undergoing crises, and speaks widely about the psyche, spirituality, and extraordinary experiences that often get pathologized as “psychosis”, “schizophrenias”, and other psychiatric conditions.

She is part of the Executive Committee of the International Society for the Psychological and Social Approaches to Psychosis (ISPS-US), and has a personal investment in the Consumer/Survivor/Ex-patient (C/S/X) Movement.

Her integrative approach includes attachment, psychodynamic, mindfulness, and spirituality.

While considering the whole person- heart, soul, mind and body, she trusts that each individual has the insight they need to navigate their distress.

She uses the term “depth emergence” to explain her orientation and approach.

It stems from depth psychology, which emphasizes gaining access to the unconscious and bringing it into consciousness. While increasing awareness, one derives meaning, evolves, and transforms.
